From the experience of the incubator GameBCN and the start-ups Big Imagination Games and Winko, we will get to know a panoramic view of entrepreneurship in the video game industry in Catalonia: context, supportmechanisms and future challenges.

GameBCN is a video game incubation programme based in Barcelona that was created to professionalize game development teams emerged mainly from university courses. The project it is promoted by the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Caixa Capital Risc and Incubio, a business incubator founded in 2011 in Silicon Valley that now operates in Barcelona’s technology and enterprise district 22@, with the co-operation of Barcelona Activa as a Strategic Partner.

Jean-Laurent Wotton, cofounder and CEO of WINKO Games

WINKO Games is a start-up created by and for hardcore gamers. The company has received $1.4M in international funding from the investors of Supercell, Unity, Omnidrone.
